Second Shaw Report on Immigration Detention published

The second Shaw Report on the welfare of vulnerable people in immigration detention has been published , two years after an initial review exposed the system's many failings. The report flags continuing inadequacies and a system that is not joined up across the country, with vastly different facilities in different centres.

There are in total 44 recommendations on page 128, some of which are repeated from the original report. They include - expanded alternatives to detention: improvements to health facilities in centres: the need for better training of staff to assess vulnerability:  better access to health entitlements for vulnerable people released from detention.
